Please don't use this for…
- Bid disputes or legal questions. mappalachia.com isn't a government office. Talk to the County Assessor, the Sheriff's tax office, or an attorney.
- Title research or boundary verification. Use the County Assessor's records and a licensed surveyor.
- Bidding on a parcel. Tax sales are run by each county — this site is research only.
About the maker
mappalachia.com is built and maintained by a Son of Marshall — an independent project, not affiliated with the WV State Auditor, any County Sheriff, or the WV GIS Technical Center.
Privacy
The site uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and a lightweight in-house counter to track which parcels are most viewed. Visitor IP addresses are hashed with a daily salt before being stored — the raw address is never written to disk. No accounts, no login, no third-party tracking beyond Google Analytics.
